Report on use-wear analysis of tools of quartz and other raw materials from the Neolithic site of Påljungshage in the province of Södermanland
30 artefacts from the Neolithic part of an excavated area called Påljungshage in the province of Södermanland were analyzed. Raw materials used for tools in this sample were cretaceous (senonian) flint from several different places in southern Sweden, quartz and quartzite. The raw material in all tools varied significantly and several different proveniences were recognized. A large part of the sample had clearly defined traces of use (35% of the quartz items and 100% of the flint artefacts). The pattern repeated in several analyzed collections is also visible in the Påljungshage collection.
